Waco Hall was built in the late 1920's with the help of the Waco community assuring Baylor University's permanent location in Waco, Texas. Construction on Waco Hall began during the presidency of Samuel Brooks and was dedicated May 27, 1930. Designed as a multipurpose theatre complete with stage, orchestra pit, seating (2,200), balcony, and box office, Waco Hall is suited to host a variety of events. Originally built for graduation ceremonies, Waco Hall has become the home to many university and Waco Events. Not the least of which is All-University Sing each February!
For more than six decades, the story of All-University Sing has been intertwined with the story of Waco Hall. What began as a small student singing competition in 1953 eventually found its home in Baylor's historic theater, where generations of students transformed seven minutes on a stage into Broadway-style productions.
Waco Hall has witnessed Sing evolve from singers standing on risers to elaborate productions featuring choreography, live music, costumes, scenery, lighting and special effects. The building has remained remarkably constant while the tradition within it has changed dramatically.
